Now it makes you fat and gives you arthritis :-)

ABC News 15 July 2013
A new study published in the journal Pediatrics found a link between adults who were physically disciplined as children and obesity later in life.

Researchers analyzed surveys from 34,000 adults across the country.

The survey included questions about how adults were disciplined as children. The survey also asked about current health issues.

Researchers found adults who said they were “sometimes” slapped, spanked, grabbed or pushed by their parents were more likely to be obese.

Thirty-one percent of adults who were physically punished as kids were obese, compared to 26 percent who were not physically punished.

The study also found that adults who suffered physical discipline as children were 25 percent more likely to have arthritis and 28 percent more likely to have cardiovascular disease, compared to adults who were not physically disciplined.
